Rotisserie Gloves Questions

Rotisserie Gloves
Could I put my silicone gloves through a 40 degree wash cycle?

I bought a rotisserie oven online; it was a great bargain, but it arrived with minimal instructions, and a pair of heat-resistant, long silicone gloves, for lifting food off the spit. I then rinse them with boiling water & add them to the dishwasher at 50 degrees. I think they are sterile – but they look grubby, and stained.

I regularly put running shoes through the washing machine, at 40 degrees, with detergent. Do you think that I should try that with these gloves?

There’s no online deal to replace them or to buy a spare pair, and I have planned a Halloween party based on the oven. Should I risk it? My neighbour tried once to wash oven gloves & they got shredded!?

Depending how thick the gloves are it’s safer to -

* Soak them in an enzyme based nappy soaker at <30C or <86F for a few hours (so the gloves do not deform at higher temps).

* Hand wash then rinse in cold water.

Good luck!

Roaster Oven – Making Homemade Soap

A roaster oven is a very convenient household appliance. It can be used to cook, bake, or steam large amounts of meats and vegetables. It’s also used for making homemade soap! There are advantages to using this type of oven. This oven comes in different sizes, shapes, styles, colors and brands.

It’s much smaller, preheats faster, cooks faster, cost less and uses less energy than a regular conventional oven. It sits nicely on a kitchen counter top and can be removed when cooking is completed. It can be used as a nice second oven for large groups or family gatherings, especially handy around the holidays. Take it camping, store it in an RV, take to parties or socials. It’s a very convenient size for entertaining family and friends.

Some ovens have see-thru lids or covers. It’s very convenient to see foods or other items, as they’re cooking. They have lift out racks, removable pans and some, even, have rotisseries. They have an adjustable temperature control, (dial or electronic touch), to set for cooking perfection. A power indicator and signal light indicates whether it’s on or off and when to place contents inside. Cool touch handles are a nice safety feature to keep from burning your hands. A non-stick interior makes clean up much quicker, especially, when you’re on the go!

MAKING HOMEMADE SOAP:

When you’re making homemade soap you want to use an oven twice the size of the contents you are fixing. Roaster ovens use lower wattage than a conventional oven, so pre-heating will take a little longer. After it’s pre-heated its contents cook at the same speed as in a regular conventional oven.

These ovens cook from the bottom and the sides. They’re unlike pans that heat from the bottom, placed on a stove top. You must watch your homemade goats milk soap, closely, while cooking in this oven. Mix and stir your soap, periodically, to prevent scorching or over cooked soap. CAUTION! Watch out for hot popping bubbles! You may want to wear protective gloves to prevent burning your hands or fingers from the hot oven and the hot soap!

After using, turn the dial or electronic keypad to the off position and unplug. Clean inside and outside of the oven with soap and water, or read the cleaning instructions. Do not get the power cord wet. Do not put the oven in the dishwasher, only its dishwasher safe removable parts. Let it cool before storing it away in a cabinet or on a shelf You could just leave it out on the counter top until it’s used again.

You can enjoy many hot process soap making recipes with the help of a roaster oven. So get started, today, learning how to make soap, using a roaster oven. Natural, homemade, goats milk soap is healthful and nourishing for skin. This soap contains the benefits of vitamins A, B, C, D, E and K! It’s natural moisture and nutrient content helps many kinds of skin!
